I was thinking the same, there’s not a lot of arable in North Wales

Great thread and I agree about the importance of landscape scale, really not considered properly apart from visual impact

That is stunning

I hadn’t heard of SANGs, sounds like a good principle.

I wonder if we should make more use of zoning (maybe we already do and I’m not aware of it). Obviously easier on larger sites, but could also be considered across multiple small sites where they are close together

It’s almost always when I’m on my own, and few / no other people around. I’m conscious of not influencing others behaviour- I think it’s more of a solitude/wilderness thing for me

Interesting thread - I often go off-footpath when able to, and particularly in mountains, coastal areas. Don’t know if it’s a certain level of inherent rebelliousness or as you suggest an inclination to seek out the more natural areas, which aren’t as obviously set out or controlled by people

Trying to figure this out, if it’s 11,000 light years away does that mean it exploded 11,340 years ago? I.e. what we see currently looks like 340 years after the explosion

Well, the ‘business barons’ taking over the internet (social media) wasn’t so far wrong

I cannot tell you the exact area of golf courses, given the various figures it is a substantial area.

I can tell you is this quote from a 2013 BBC webpage is deeply flawed and illustrates exactly why we have a biodiversity problem. Coastal sand dunes are infertile.

Thanks, that makes sense

Or are they typical of the height statistical distribution and actually it’s the taller ones that are outliers
December 12, 2024 at 10:01 PM
Was there a suggestion on why? You might expect height to plateau and trunks increase in girth over time, but these seem mostly in lower half of height range

Thanks for the tip
