The same goes for lawyers and judges too - you can always say no.
My dad was an FBI agent when he was ordered to arrest Japanese Americans for internment. He did it for a day, quit, joined the Navy, and spent three years fighting in the South Pacific, 28 island landings. Never regretted his decision. His lesson was, "You can always say no."

Lawyers take an oath to support the US Constitution when they’re admitted to the bar. In NY we swear this oath in person in court. It’s a big day for new lawyers and was one of the proudest days of my life. Here is the oath NY if you’ve never seen it or are a Biglaw partner in need of a reminder.
