Is it going to happen?! A nice round 75 would be a small salve.

*deserving of derision, that is

Ok BUT didn't Millennials slightly go for Kamala... Gen X and above are most deserving for their bad choices 🥲

I agree but posit it’s also not just Millennial journos, it’s the whole lot of them- even those who were around in ‘80 and *should* know better.

And let’s be real, just bc Trump occasionally peppered his 2hr rambling speeches w/ “nO oNe’S eAtInG bAcOn AnYmOrE” doesn’t mean it was *his* personal economic message that resonated. The campaign did that.

Whereas the white identity politics msg he spewed definitely directly animated many voters.

To me it was less what Harris said herself (I think political leaders should make sweeping, emotional statements). It was the broader campaign wrapper.

Harris signs/collateral said “A new way forward.” Conceptual.

Trump signs/collat said “Trump: Cheaper prices. Kamala: Higher taxes.” Tangible.

I don't think they hated her, I think most of them only knew her as the caricature Fox News and other right wing media portrayed her as... a 'joke', unserious, unintelligent, etc.

Oh I have so much Harris swag I will be rocking proudly for all of eternity.

Chris Murphy stop trying to make Chris Murphy happen challenge.

That is not the fault of Harris, that’s the fault of the copywriters. The policy was right, the execution on the ground in some cases was too sophisticated for voters not plugged in. Could have absolutely worked in a longer campaign but, alas, time another factor.
November 13, 2024 at 12:38 AM
Micro level, Harris campaign msg too lofty for low info voters. DJT signs around AZ said simply “Trump: Cheaper prices. Kamala: Higher taxes.” Or “Trump: Safety. Kamala: Crime.” KH signs said “A new way forward”. Too vague for ppl whose doors I knocked w/ no idea they could vote or about candidates.
November 13, 2024 at 12:36 AM
The bedrock of all this is bigotry- misogyny and racism baked in against KH, racism baked in against immigrants, transphobia, etc. The only campaign to run on identity politics was Trump’s and it worked, because this is who America is macro level.

It boils down to this:

bsky.app/profile/davi...
I’m up for whatever she wants! But no sane party casts aside a candidate who raised a billion $, ran an Obama ‘08-like campaign, defied gravity & outperformed nearly every incumbent party in the world, saved Dems from a bloodbath, & will be who voters wish they’d voted for when Trump overreaches.
November 12, 2024 at 11:43 PM
And not once did I say the Dem membership chose her for the top of the ticket this year. I said she earned 70m votes in the *general*. I also said she should absolutely earn the 2028 nomination through a primary. I’m saying to discount her as a front runner right now is actually ludicrous.
November 12, 2024 at 11:37 PM
I only used him as an example of how your argument that she lost a primary in 2020 somehow disqualifies her from a 2028 run. There is tons of precedent for past nominees securing their spot after multiple tries. This is not a valid knock against her for future.
November 12, 2024 at 11:35 PM
No one else on the potential 2028 candidate slate has anywhere close to the kind of support that she earned in the general just now. The point is writing her off now automatically because of this loss would be another Dem miss and the precise *opposite* of listening to 70M voters.
November 12, 2024 at 9:12 PM
You are going down a 2020 rabbit hole that is irrelevant to the future of the party & country. No one is saying there shouldn't be a primary or that she's entitled. We're saying 70+ million voters (not just Dems) chose her this time & given the opportunity they'd probably do it again.

Biden lost a primary twice before he went on to win and become President. What does past performance in a completely different context have anything to do with who and what the party is NOW, and going forward? Would you say the same of Bernie, who has run and lost multiple times in primaries? Pete?
