If you still have plums, you can achieve much the same effect with less effort by poaching them as follows and eating them with a plain ice cream or whipped cream. For bonus points, any flaky pastry (store bought and/or toasted is more than okay).

I like candy bc I have a child's palate, and I agree cupcakes are foul, but disliking cake is a miserable take. A box yellow cake with too-sweet globs of American buttercream, maybe, but a great cake is to die for. Victoria sponge? Tiramisu? Bavarois? Heaven.
