If you are interested in more, I recommend the Floodlines podcast. the pod was released in March 2020 so it got a bit lost in the pandemic, but it is enlightening. the episode about FEMA director Michael Brown (they interviewed him!) is insane.

Classics are great, but they should be balanced with novels written in the last 50 years.

Hah! I spent endless hours looking for non-metal materials (screws, adhesives, gears, etc) to build water samplers for metals monitoring. Finally found a guy who took me seriously and was fascinated, so he kept a list of new items for me. I thanked him in my thesis!
