This piece for @grist.org is on how drones are changing the future of wildfire management to fight fire smarter, not harder. Focusing on the capacities of the technology, it also takes a clear eyed look at limitations and communities that don’t have access to this tool.

This story for @audubon.org is on the world’s oldest known osprey, Iris, who has become an online sensation. She and her brood of offspring are living indicators of watershed health in Montana where there is a toxic legacy of mining and milling near rivers.

When federal cuts were announced after the change of administration, I reported this piece for @grist.org on how #NPS gateway communities feel the impacts disproportionately. I found out all the ways that economies, culture and identities are tied to Western #publiclands grist.org/economics/ye...
Yellowstone's gateway town fears for its future amid Trump funding cuts

This was a fun and adventurous piece for a local publication in #Montana. Although not thought of as an invasive species, domestic cats that have been abandoned are turning into feral herds of hunters—impacting the biodiverse wildlife near the city of Missoula.

A sustainable blacksmith in Northern Montana is forging a new narrative - both literally and figuratively - on how we build our world. For Jeffrey Funk, it’s an imperative craft—“It used to be that every town had a blacksmith because they needed it.”

A piece I wrote for @businessinsider.com on what I garnered would become the future of writing with ChatGPT released into the wild - having experienced it two years before it went public. Two years later, I feel my foresight was pretty well positioned! www.businessinsider.com/openai-gpt3-...
A writer shares the differences between her experience using ChatGPT-3 2 years ago and ChatGPT now: "it was much, much smarter"
Emily Senkosky used GPT-3 two years ago. When ChatGPT came onto the scene, she compared the AI chatbots and was impressed, albeit a little scared.

My first environmental journalism piece for @mongabay.com

The paramo generates 80% of the potable water for Colombia thanks to the frailajone, a plant that slowly creates rivers. These ecosystems are increasingly under threat from avocado farming.
