History, politics. Usually modern Britain. Currently taking a detour to the lost medieval island of Ravenser Odd. Professor at Sussex.
#visiblemending #proofofcat One day I will get round to redoing this with beautiful clashing patches rather than sticking-plaster beige. But for now,* at least the stuffing is back where it belongs.

* she was scratching even as I was sewing, so this may be a short-lived moment

Very exciting Christmas delivery! It’s @clairelanghamer.bsky.social ‘s Cultural History of Love in the Modern Age, which includes a chapter Jonathan Moss and I wrote on ‘Love in Politics’.

Modelled here by Lily (in a brief pause in head-rubbing it — her love language)

The poster, designed by the amazing Marie-Chantal Hamrock, takes inspiration from the 1407 Inclesmoor map, showing the other end of the Humber. And the lovely iconography of a 1734 map of Spurn and the estuary. More details of the Inclesmoor map here: www.flickr.com/photos/12480...

Haven’t really posted on here, so here’s an overdue plug for my first foray into exhibition curation! ‘Hull/Ravenser Odd: twin cities, sunken pasts’ opens at Hull History Centre on 26 March. And there’s already a exciting schools project in progress, imagining life on a sinking medieval island!
