House sitting for my mom while she's in Ireland and this is pretty much my whole experience so far. Heaven.

This book used up all but one of my orange tabs. If you need a little hope, inspiration, some righteous anger, and/or a little kick in the behind to get to work in your own community, I couldn't recommend this more. Let This Radicalize You by Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba

Another day at the New York Botanical Gardens, this time to see orchids, and I hope these flowers bring a smile to your day:

My sixth and final stop was Lit. Bar in the Bronx which was the best experience all day, particularly because I found the Kennedy Ryan book I had wanted to pick up and I was able to enjoy a glass of wine and read my current book on a couch in the back. The perfect end to my 34th birthday.

Stop five was Barnes & Noble because my mom gave me a gift card for my birthday and I particularly love the architecture in the Upper West Side location. I bought two books here and still have a little bit left on my gift card for a future purchase.

Stop three was The Mysterious Bookshop in Soho which specializes in thrillers and mysteries and has a very broad selection in a somewhat small space. I purchased two books from here, including John Le Carre's final novel and a book about Raymond Chandler's writing, as I have read all of his books

Stop two was McNally Jackson in Brooklyn at the City Point mall. Amazing selection, two floors, and a great atmosphere. I purchased three books at this stop, including Jazz by Toni Morrison which I've been searching for for a while.

Starting with my happy place, The Ripped Bodice in Brooklyn, which specializes in romance books of all kinds. I purchased 6 books total, plus picked up my pre-order of the latest Adriana Herrera Las Leonas book. They also have a lot of signed books from local and visiting authors which is super cool

She is stacking, though.

Late to this, but here are all the books I read in January. Now a week into February, I've only finished two, so this will probably not be indicative of my monthly reading output for 2025 but it was an incredibly good month for reading while everything else in the world was decidedly terrible.

My best friend surprised me with the Waterstones edition of The Warm Hands Of Ghosts for Christmas because she knew how much I loved the book, and I am so mesmerized by how gorgeous it is and how lucky I am to have such wonderful people in my life who love and know me so well 🥹💜

My top favorite books of 2024, 18 of them because I'm indecisive. The top three are solidly in order, numbers 4-6 shuffle around depending on the day, similarly 7-14 and 15-18 shuffle. Still Life dethroned The Woman In White as my third favorite book of all time, and all of these made me feel a LOT.

Mom's new babies. Losing Zeus last month was horrible, but Mom knew she still wanted the companionship of cats, and decided to adopt a bonded pair. Lucy (top left) and Desi (bottom right) are from a local shelter, not the same litter but they do everything together. Very sweet girls.

Bonus video of the skyline piece cause it was so cool. My friend and I loved the little ferries in particular.

The Brooklyn Bridge reproduction was a highlight (sorry for my slightly shaky filming skills)

The New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx have a train show/exhibit right now which includes reproductions of famous NYC buildings and it's honestly a huge delight. A great use of my Saturday.

Needed some motivation to get me through days at my home work desk, and finally framing my @gdbee.bsky.social prints is helping.

Sometimes you gotta feed your soul with the things you love. Two things I love: the Turtles and comics.

Even the borderline aggressive amount of bisexual lighting in my room cannot endear me to Daylight Saving Time. But it does have some soothing effect, I'll give it that...

Enjoy Mom's cat trying to chase leaves through the glass door 😂 his little paw on the glass 🥹

Nothing is giving me more joy these days than watching my little pothos grow. Just a little water, and he's growing roots and reaching for the window. 🥰 It's the little things!
