Pajamas, a book, and some light rain: elements of a quiet summer day.

Rainy day cuddles… although the young one’s ultimate goal was to wake up his brother and take over the chair.

Oh. It’s snowing. So… never mind with the whole “the lake is finally thawing” post from Saturday. I forgot we live in Duluth.

A little glimmer of open water along the shoreline. The thaw is finally happening!

So utterly repulsive that I immediately bought it for my daughter. There’s a bag of goo for “sauce”! A big patty of… something… for the crust. Cheese and pepperoni gummies! A true American abomination! I love it so much. 🤮 😂🤮😂

Took a big trip to the DR to celebrate a big birthday. I’ll miss this backyard spot for the rest of my life. What a world we live in.

Home for a minute and wanted to document this greatest ever photo of sibling rivalry. Brotherly love 😂

I guess, as with Greenland, America has claimed this French word as its own. 🙄

The minute I get distracted by Bandit’s cuteness or absorbed in what I’m knitting that little paw snakes in to attack my needles or ball of yarn. He’s a sneak, and we named him well.

I was trying to take a picture of the tulips—I mean, look at them!—but my dog was anxiously nosing my arm and trying to insert herself into the frame, and I decided she was right: the world absolutely does need extra beauty on this Monday morning. So here it is—March tulips AND Folly’s sweet face.

This just arrived from an unknown number. Is this a smart phisher or just a wrong number? 😀 Because I would, in fact, like some duck confit and pinot noir.

Snow and ice outside, an oasis of warmth inside. These tulip bulbs are bringing the joy.

Hanging on to the small good things.

If I could douse my clothes in cognac and enter this icy day in flambé-mode, I would. For now, pre-heating my clothes will have to do.

Tackling a new skill over here! So far I’ve decided that my temperament is a great fit for knitting, but my fine motor skills and spatial visualization aren’t *remotely* job-ready. This cowl is going to have a ton of mistakes but I plan to be ridiculously proud of it. This sh*t is hard!

King Kong, in a pensive moment before he sweeps all of the helpless people over the ledge.

The sky is falling, the world is ending, or maybe… someone is just running the vacuum.

This is Folly. She says hi to your beautiful puppy. Have you chosen a name?

Went for a drive on the lake, confirming that I live on another planet now. Minnesota is wild.

Don’t mind me, I’ll be over here under the duvet until Tuesday.

Kids don’t necessarily get more helpful as they get older, but they do get a little funnier.

Christmas is the time of year when I buy dinner rolls in bricks of 30 and plan to eat 28 of them single-handedly.

So far, my second Minnesota winter thrills me as much as the first. I just wish I’d put white lights on that tree before the snowfall.
