It's striking how a cohesive framework would broadly improve health outcomes.

Sub your patient population for rural and it works.

Families deserve more. Kids deserve more. Our country deserves more.

This is for all my fellow neonatologists #neosky

Did you know
🔹Un/underinsurance
🔹Financial strain
🔹Poor housing
🔹Food insecurity

All ⬆️ risk of preterm birth and negatively impact neonatal health?

The best treatment for prematurity is prevention, and the best prevention is via public policies.

Ohio’s investment in public health is lower than 33 other states

⭐Public health initiatives deliver a high return on investment

⭐Every $1 spent = $14 return from
⬆️health outcomes
⬇️healthcare costs
⬆️productivity

⭐Investment in public health ➡️ better health outcomes for Ohioans

Huge thanks to Senator Moreno's office for meeting w this group of OH pediatricians & committing to protect Ohio's kids!

Your promise to vote no on federal cuts to Medicaid ("it's 💯 off the table") means

⬇️missed days of school
⬆️high school graduation rates
⬆️earning potential for Ohio's kids

How it started (full day of legislative meetings in DC with #AAPAdvocacyConference) 🤝 How it's going (back home/pre-call rest day)

Well this is the closest I could get to Ohio's newest Senator Jon Husted. Disappointed that 9 constituent pediatricians traveled from Ohio to DC for a meeting that didn't happen.

Staffers told us "We are too busy to meet with you" after we arrived.

We were there to discuss Ohio's kids & Medicaid.

Look out Congress! 400 pediatricians and pediatric sub specialists from 44 states are having 200+ meetings with their Senators, Representatives, and legislative staffers today.

Our ask: do not cut federal funding to Medicaid. It will harm our kids.

The NIH provides a TON of funding to Ohio universities and companies - over $1B funding & 13K jobs.

Every $1 spent on NIH funding provides $2.56 of downstream benefits in the form of new discoveries, etc.
