Really excellent and thorough review by @katyhayward.bsky.social of ‘For and Against a United Ireland’ this morn. Too often IT book reviews actually fail to review the book itself! This was an impressive critique informed by Katy’s own formidable expertise:

Gave a shout-out also to the fab exhibit curated by Brian Crowley at Kilmainham Gaol @opwireland.bsky.social, which is the best chance right now in Dublin to see historical photography! The students were delighted to try out a 1925 Kodak Vest Pocket camera, identical to one in the exhibition ☺️

Another great afternoon introducing the history of photography — this time to the BAs in Classics, Art History and Archaeology at @ucddublin.bsky.social! A super-engaged group & lots of questions during our 2 hour session getting hands-on with our superb Kingsley Photographic Teaching Collection!

Delighted to be present for the opening of ‘The Prisoners’ Lens: Secret photography in Kilmainham Gaol, 1921’, a gem of an exhibition (curated by Brian Crowley) exploring fascinating photographs taken in Kilmainham Gaol during the Irish War of Independence!

Received Samin Nosrat’s new cookbook ‘Good Things’ as a birthday gift yest - it’s delightful! Made chicken schnitzel for dinner tonight, and new potatoes with her ‘house dressing’, along with pickled vegetables - turned out perfectly. Her writing reflects the joy it gives me to cook for my family 🥰
