I'm so proud of my former student Miranda, who successfully presented her senior honors thesis for Georgetown University's Department of History on Wednesday. Her thesis was "Money, Power, and the Pursuit of Happiness: Prison Labor in the United States and China, 1950s-80s." Congrats, Miranda!

My last day teaching at Georgetown for the 24-25 academic year is tomorrow already. So thankful for the wonderful students I've been fortunate enough to not only teach, but also learn so much from in my "Life and Legacy of Mao Zedong" and "Historical Memory of WWII in Asia" classes.

In my Mao class yesterday evening, we heard from GU grad student Shuti (Emily) Zhao about her fieldwork in Cambodia on the Khmer Rouge, which is a very heavy but important history to cover when discussing global Maoism. Thank you for sharing your research with us, Emily!
