So I left Twitter and wrote a book and got a new job and got stuck. I’m here to find my way through my next book and meet other writers.
The meme isn’t for us. It’s for you. They want you to feel so smart for owning the libs that you don’t notice you’re losing the country.

A lot of people, especially women, seem to see something here. It hits a nerve that’s pretty central to our experience. Food for thought. Have to drive now, so I’m closing this conversation. Have a good week.

I don’t think that the argument that he felt bad about it and instantly apologized means that he doesn’t habitually demean women. He demeaned the judge in charge of deciding his case. Of course he was chagrined.

Clearly, it’s not just you. It hits a nerve for a reason. This wasn’t just any mistake.

But you can see why women are reacting? Like, how often we get this kind of thing in both professional and informal settings? Why this particular slip of the tongue is getting to people?

If he had said, “love you! bye!” to his boss on the phone, I could see your point. But this hits a pattern. Lots of women being patronized by men in both professional and unprofessional settings. That’s why the judge got so mad. It wasn’t just that he was informal.

This seems to me to be an obvious example of a guy who doesn’t respect women, even in a professional context, and it slipped out in front of a judge. It’s not being unfair to him to make that assumption when he says a thing like that in this context.

If that’s how he talks to his wife so frequently that it slips out in front of a judge, I don’t envy his wife. Or any women in his life.

Right?? I hope the judge is a woman of incredible integrity for the sake of this guy’s client and can separate the lawyer from the person he is representing.
