After deep reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to end my campaign for Mayor of MPLS. I got into this race because I love this city. But I’ve come to a hard truth: under the current political climate, I can’t be my authentic self and be a candidate in this race. (1/5)

Here are my thoughts on a strong mayor system: it requires a strong leader, and we don’t have one right now.

You deserve to get the most out of your city government. That means electing a Mayor willing to roll up her sleeves and work with *everyone* to solve our toughest challenges together.

Charlie drove home from college to convene his precinct caucus last night! That is incredible commitment to local politics and our city’s future. I love to see it 💪

Thank you to everyone who showed up at caucuses last night! The energy and turnout was incredible.

Across Minneapolis, we heard loud and clear that residents are ready for a new era of leadership. I agree—let’s build a city we can all be proud of, together.

A great night of DFL caucuses! He’s only been Chair for a week and a half but Richard Carlbom is proving to always be there when you need him most, even as campaign photographer!

America has no king.

And in this moment, we the people need each other more than ever.
April 5, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Thousands of people made their voices heard at the #handsoff rally today.

Now more than ever, Minneapolis needs leadership that rejects division in our local politics and move us in the same direction to protect our values, our rights, and our city. That’s exactly what I’ll do as your next Mayor.

When it comes to setting a budget and spending your tax dollars wisely, I get the job done. 💪

In these turbulent times, Minneapolis needs leadership with effective budget experience and a proven ability to partner collaboratively. That’s how we will be able to weather the unknown—together.

Minneapolis deserves a Mayor who will center residents, and that means making sure our students have a seat at the table.

Kavya is an exceptional student leader who has worked tirelessly to promote civic engagement on campus and beyond. I’m honored to have earned her trust with this endorsement.

This is the hard work that goes on behind the scenes that residents deserve. With a new era of leadership, we can continue to get the most out of our city government and our tax dollars. Minneapolis deserves a leader willing to roll up her sleeves and do this work.

I served as Budget Chair in my first 2 years on City Council. In that time, I transformed how our budget process worked by instituting work plans and setting priorities so that our legislative body worked strategically and efficiently.

The end result? A process that was exceedingly collaborative.

Now is the time for us to think big about how we make Minneapolis a family-friendly destination!
April 1, 2025 at 3:59 PM
Minneapolis parents: do you think our city has gotten more family friendly in the last 8 years? I don’t.

My friends with littles say on weekends & non-school days they go to the suburbs where they have options like indoor playgrounds. It’s time we change that & make downtown a place for everyone.

Thank you @katiecashman.bsky.social for your support! We serve on the Climate & Infrastructure Committee where she brings important expertise successfully integrating sustainability & public works so we can build a more resilient city. I’m excited to continue our partnership as your next Mayor.

We had an incredible event last night talking about what’s possible under new leadership in Minneapolis: the future of public safety, how we can support our schools, and (my passion) outcomes based budgeting.

You deserve a Mayor capable of thinking bigger about our city, and I’m ready to lead.

I stopped by Clancey's Meats yesterday and to my surprise and joy I met my dad’s former high school classmates! It was a great opportunity to learn about their childhood experiences and ideas to strengthen Minneapolis for future generations.

I wasn’t MIA. When it mattered the most, I showed up for our teachers and educators.

Strong schools make a strong city, and that starts with creating fair, safe, and supportive working conditions in our classrooms.

With precinct caucuses coming up on April 8th, our team is here to help anyone new to the process!

Caucuses are the first step in the DFL endorsement and, like our democracy, work best when we all show up. Join us for an upcoming training on 4/2 or 4/7: mobilize.us/emilykoskiformpls

Strong partnerships w state leaders are critical to strengthen our metro. From building resilient infrastructure, defending reproductive freedom & public schools, our work is interconnected. I’m honored to have Sen. Johnson Stewart’s support, one of many strong relationships I have at the Capitol.

Thank you so much to the many friends, supporters, & community leaders who came to our event today! It meant so much to gather and celebrate Women’s History Month together.

A new era of leadership is possible and we’re on our way to writing a new chapter of Minneapolis history. Let’s get to work!
March 24, 2025 at 1:09 AM
I believe productive relationships are how we strengthen Minneapolis during the chaos of Trump.

Thank you US Rep. @ilhan for your kind words about our partnership working together and for rising to the moment with your leadership.
