The main character is off on adventure to excel in academics and outwit everyone. This is a boy fantasy, and has been compared to The Name of the Wind and Red Rising. I would rank it below the former and above the latter in terms of quality.

I think this book is meant to be experienced and readers should be good with just absorbing the content as opposed to expecting a beginning-middle-end story.

It’s also meant to be experienced and touched—I would not recommend this on an e-reader or audiobook.

I really like how this author can bring the reader along with the science even if they don’t really get it.
