Warren displayed how Ocular identified the kinds of typographical features historical bibliographers are trained to recognize: bends, fractures, over-inking, under-inking, etc. (5/7)

Warren highlighted the advantages of using Ocular over traditional OCR in recognizing damaged letterforms, building probabilistic models of fonts, spacing, inking, and spelling variation, to then identify clandestine printers github.com/tberg12/ocular (4/7)

As a book history/digital humanities scholar, I immensely enjoyed this @rarebookschool.bsky.social talk on Warren's term, computational bibliography, as a set of tools to connect the study of artifact (microscopic/Hinman) to ideology (systemic/Darnton). (1/7)

STS 2025 has been delightful! Today’s glimmers: 1) people interacting with my show-and-tell & 2) visiting the Common Press to use the 1899 Washington Hoe Cast Iron Handpress and the Vandercook to print these conference souvenirs! #WickedTextual #STS2025 #DHMakes

Really enjoyed making this shirt with quotes from Pride and Prejudice (2005) for the movie last weekend, thank you for the input, @cynthiaheider.com! I made a few vinyl cutting and screenprinting errors, but I like that it shows the handmade quality that way

The Materials Library at Penn is a treasure trove for #DHMakes research, so many textures and colors to explore! I highly recommend making an appointment to visit if you are a creative researcher in the Philadelphia area! www.library.upenn.edu/finearts/mat...

I want to make something for the 20th anniversary re-release of Pride and Prejudice, and was thinking of screenprinting a shirt. Should I do black text on white background, gold text on white background, or gold text on black background? #PrideAndPrejudice

Grateful for the great work at @archive.org in preserving the transition of a nation. An idea popped in my head of this design for an “Internet Archive is greater than artificial intelligence (IA>AI)” button. Feel free to share and use!
