I also have to get small sizes for anything going in my ear (earphone tips, earplugs - even those expandable foam ones), and "one size fits all" infuriates me!

[I eventually found Anker earbuds with tip sizes that are good for my small earholes, fwiw]

OnlyOffice is another good alternative - it's more similar to MS Office than LibreOffice is, so personally I've found it the easier one to switch to.

Excellent news!

Because now if they do try to evict, you have grounds to fight back. And in my experience, many landlords / letting agents do back down very rapidly once you point out to them that what they're trying to do is actually illegal.
(Not always, of course! But often enough to make a big difference)

My original point was less that this solves everything (bc yes, of course it doesn't), but more that saying landlords can still just evict you for requesting a pet is glossing over a real change in the law, and potentially misleading people reading it.

Oh I 100% agree with that! We need far more Actual Consequences for both landlords and letting agents breaking the law, or attempting to, and generally acting poorly.

Like Christ, I'd love an ideal world too, but until we manage to achieve that, maybe it's still worth making things better??
November 11, 2025 at 5:16 PM
So is there no point improving the law at all, because some people will still try to break it?

Do you not understand that something being illegal gives people considerably more power to fight back against it than if it's completely allowed by the system?

They won't be able to though, because the renters rights act also gets rid of no-fault evictions

Just responding to your question!

But yes, I absolutely agree with you that there are still many places that need better bus connections (or indeed any at all). It's so variable across different parts of the city, and it would make a big difference if that were improved.

My bus to work will be more frequent from next week onwards, due to funding from the congestion charge!
