This is Southern long leaf yellow pine, selected from cut-offs with lots of resin, cut into strips about 1/8" thick and 1 1/2" wide. The dark lines are patina from the original jacket of the old beam. The strips are suspended above a mirror w a flashlight for effect

The wood on the left was a resin filled end chop headed for the bin. I cut it into 1/8"/3mm strips..Southern Long-Leaf Yellow Pine. I laid the strips out over a mirror and applied my Mighty Little Torchy flashlight. If I squint, the one on the right look like a sunset on water
