I think the main positive thing about dynamically typed languages is that it's easier to build from a language developer standpoint. If you're making an embedded language for, say, a game engine, you might not initially want to bother with static types.

Yeah writing games in the JVM is a pain since you have to avoid doing allocations in the hot path. Though with a small game this doesn’t matter that much since GCs are fairly efficient. Look into ZGC if you have issues with pause times.
