Big Ohio Book Con was a success ✨ I’m obsessed with this coin purse and I got my sister and I matching tarot bookmarks!! I am so tired but it was a very good day out.

Attempt the picture of a reasonably well-adjusted man who doesn’t want to do things like that. It doesn’t last. The feeling of your chest cracking open bows your back again quickly. You can only hear your heartbeat in your ears, the rush of blood that sounds too much like the ocean and suddenly it feels like you’re drowning. You inhale but there’s no air.

I’m only three chapters into Tied to the Waves by Vee Debras but I already love it. Obsessed with this hilarious, relatable MC. I do pity their wet socks though, that sounds awful. If you saw me mistype the title just now, no you didn’t.

It’s easy to forget how strong he is when he so often solves his problems with pouting and being as annoying as possible. Or endearing. It’s more annoying when it’s endearing. You’re reminded of water quietly lapping at the shore, pulling sand from beneath your feet to draw you in deeper. Enticing and playful and endlessly persistent.

I put the old man baby to sleep today & I am positive I’ll never get so lucky again. He wasn’t even supposed to be up for adoption the day I got him and his adoption fee had already been paid. He’d been found as a stray but was such a good, well mannered boy. I hope he liked it here.

I never actually finished writing this scene but I… really should. I really liked it at the time. But at this point it’s been so long I’d probably need to rewrite it all to sound cohesive >< #🐬⚓️
He squeezes your arm harder and you shrug him off and set about to light the standing sconces and braziers that used to mark home for anyone returning late at night. His hands settle on your waist, curling into the fabric of your clothes. You can practically feel his satisfaction as you carefully guard the flame from the ocean breeze until it catches, when you unthinkingly wipe dust away from the shrine or straighten an offering knocked astray out of a habit you’d thought long gone. You find your cheeks a little warm. It’s one thing to offer your thoughts to an empty temple and blindly trust that they’ll find their way to the one you devote them to, and another entirely to feel the god in question lean over you to watch you tend to his temple with a care you rarely even show yourself. To know without a shadow of a doubt that if you offered a prayer those hands would tighten on you and he would make some teasing comment about asking him directly for what you want. You work very hard to keep from thinking about that too long.

His hands are grounding, steady and sure, warm on your shoulders. Every time, it strikes you how cool you are when he touches you, but not until then. Usually it’s a comfortable coolness, something you’ve grown used to. Something you can’t remember not being there. He tightens his hands, presses his thumbs gentle but firm into the knotted muscle. Eases you into relaxation. You lean into him and tip your head back against his chest. He holds you in place with a hand on your jaw when he leans down to kiss you. You scrunch your nose at the tickle of his hair but force yourself to stay still, eager for the affection. Then he’s pulling away — probably heading back to work because there’s always work — and you’re equally as eager to follow his warmth.
