I read American Gods, and it was pretty good, but I still preferred Douglas Adams's take on modern gods - in The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul.

I really got into the spin-off, Lucifer (If you’ve seen the TV show, no you haven’t. It’s not even remotely related), but I never got into Sandman. The story of the Madman in volume one really put me off. I always imagined I’d go back and read them someday, but now I don’t much care to.
