My first actual rejection landed in my inbox this morning!

I’m LEGIT now! 😎

I have a near-12 child, and I am writing a piece from a 12yo POV. So I ask stuff like what would make parents seem sus, what would be unsettling…and the tone gets more and more concerned until I hear “geez are you gonna use this stuff against me?!”

Are we even writers if we don’t scar our kids?

Submission 1 of 2 completed, revised, and entered…a whole 12 hours ahead of deadline!

Now if I could just turn these tumbling thoughts into coherent sentences for this next one…

Okay January…enough. I need ONE area of my life to be calm. Just one. I can cope with the storms if I have a bit of shelter.

I remember writing papers in high school and university and thinking 2500 was a lot of words. Now I’m writing short stories for contests with word caps and realizing it really isn’t.

Good (if frustrating) way to train myself out of overwriting, though!
