this whole thing is very playful (little toy/joujou, "can you do that for me, hmm?", "simple as hello") but the last line especially:
"Hmm... All you'll have to do is whistle for me! And I'll come running like a big, friendly lapdog! Now go, get going."

Fifty years too early for the equivalent time period "setting" of the end of the Republic, but Eugénie de Montijo is another inspiration. That beautiful green train plus the sash across the bust is perfect visually for a court dress.
