Writer, mother, cat lover.
I think the outline is done. The ending is a little weak, but I can fix that in the manuscript. For now, it's on the page, and that's ultimately what matters.

Half of the outline for the new idea is done. It even has a title. Never had a title before I started writing before. Should be interesting.

Outline is complete for latest bullshit, but...

I don't like it. I don't like the direction it goes. It's a solid idea, and one I'll probably revisit, but it's not the story I want to tell right now. And that's okay. It happens, and it's not the only idea currently percolating in my brain.

Immediately back on my bullshit.

Beta draft is sent. Was aiming for 60k words. Ended up at 80k. Lots more edits to do, but for now, it is out of my hands.

Editing a hockey story while watching a hockey game is a special kind of meta.

You should be able to send messages to people on Libby. What do you mean I'm first in line with a 2 week wait? The book isn't that long. Gimme. Please.

If someone sent me a message that just said "plz" I would absolutely return the book. Have some werewolf romance bby. Enjoy.

Anyone else have to change the name of their main character because of the recent NHL draft? No? Just me?
September 20, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Promised a friend to have edits to them in a week. It's been 3, and the edits still aren't done. In that 3 weeks, I've sold a car, bought a car, had a sinus infection, nursed my kid through pneumonia, and spent 5 days in excruciating pain from gall stones. The guilt of not having them done is worse.

Me: Would you maybe wanna think about possibly beta reading for me? It's totally okay if you don't. I totally understand...

Friend: *grabby hands* Gimme words, please. Now. Gimme.

Alpha feedback is in! Third draft edits begin soon! Excitement!

One of my alpha readers found a typo in the middle of a sex scene. I may never recover from this shame.

Bullshit ended up being 45k, and is now in the hands of alpha readers. Hoping to have a draft ready for beta readers before September.

And no, I did not, in fact, stick to my outline. :)
Back on my bullshit. Day 1: 1424 words. Aiming for 30k total. Let's see if I can stick to my outline this time.

I just sneezed 7 times in a row. Either I've been hexed or I need a Claritin.

I just did the Pythagorean theorem in the first time in DECADES for a throwaway line that'll probably be cut.

For anyone curious, in a standard American hockey rink, it's approximately 77 feet from the blueline to the near goal when standing against the boards.

62 days. Nearly 136k words. No title yet, but it's done.

Weekly update: It's been a rough week. The end is near. Editor!Me is going to have to cut sooooooo much.
April 4, 2025 at 3:44 AM
Super Late Weekly Update: Things were great, then not so great, then I broke it. Working on fixing it doesn't add a lot to the word count, but makes it better in the end. Onward.

Writer!Me: If I think the sentence needs five commas, it gets five commas. I don't make the rules.

Editor!Me: Why are there so many fucking commas?!

Weekly Check-in: 36 days, 82k words. I don't consider myself a fast writer, but this is ridiculous. Future Editor!Me already hates Writer!Me.

Weekly Check-in: 29 days in. Reminding myself that any words on the page is progress. Some days are just more progressive than others.

22 days into my latest novel, and I've reached an important milestone. Most days have been okay. Some days have been remarkable. A few have been less than stellar. All have been work at getting words on the page. For a story that was supposed to be 30k, I'm looking forward to the next milestone.
