“Use words that fulfill the true essence of who you are. Always lead with your compassion, with your love for other people. There is so much color waiting for you.”

🐛

Also worth mentioning 2+7 is my lucky number, my birthday, and my life path number. Something good is coming! 🦋

“When I see your future from your soul — it’s lit up. It’s stars in the sky, it’s bright, busy rooms, it’s rocketships. The challenge will be to allow this without getting in your own way. A big, gold star over your head. Always be as humble as you are today. Always say ‘yes’ to opportunities.”

There’s been a palpable shift within me over the last several months — clearing energy, preparing for big changes — and I can’t help but think of words a very, very wise woman said to me almost a decade ago.

My birthday landed on a Monday so I was lucky enough to visit the gardens this weekend (in the pouring rain) in honor of my 27th (!!! 🤨) year. I always feel 1,000 years old at the end of each year’s cycle, but now, interestingly, I’ve never felt so young as well.

Grateful to be represented in Print/Editorial, TV/Film, and Commercial by my dedicated, phenomenal agent and manager at @nymmg.

Ben Vereen said it best in his Lifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech: the industry needs to change, and the future generations are going to see it through. BMHF believes in this shift and lives it every single day, planting seeds to grow a better, healthier, more empowering field for artists.

Mental health was represented at the Chita Rivera Awards last night! 🧠🎩 What a privilege it was for @mentalhealthbway.org to attend dance’s biggest night and connect with so many who recognize the power mental health resources can have on our industry.

I can feel her so deeply in the expression of my consciousness. She represents the metamorphosis from suffering to transcendence
— the pursuit and arduous journey to Love, in its many forms, that ultimately becomes a voyage to transformation.

As artists and creative people, we tend to draw immense feeling and “essence” from archetypal energies that can be found in literature, lore, mythology, and history. As someone who also considers themselves an intuitive, I constantly find myself calling in these archetypal energies through

Naturally, after a day of three dance auditions, a shoot with FotoLab is totally normal and not at all crazy.

I’ve gone through immensely painful personal battles — from my career, my formative years, and even from a soul magnitude — and yet I am still here, still Emerson Valentina. A someone who has chosen resilience every single time. I’m an artist. My art?

Transformation. 🦋

I’m imaginative, resourceful, and ask the big, existential questions. I’m a change-maker who loves nature and painting and cooking Sicilian family recipes. I’m open about my mental health challenges and a staunch supporter for mental health literacy in my profession.

I’m a performer and a leader. I’m a founder, an advocate, a highly sensitive person, and a future therapist. I’m a writer and a spiritual healer. I’m an introvert who loves to connect with others on a deep level. I’m ambitious. I love to read and love to learn.

If I’m going to utilize an online platform, I’m going to make my corner a space where vulnerability, industry activism, artistic joy and expression, and “real-life” (NOT disingenuous highlight-reel-life) take center stage. To me, that’s where the *real* engagement lies.
April 1, 2025 at 12:25 AM
I hate (!!!) social media…ironically, in a world of theatre that mainly uses online engagement as leverage to book work. Although I recognize that social media isn’t going anywhere, I ask that you bear with me as I navigate my online presence in ways I can only hope bring my authentic self to life.

I’ve been vocal about my mental health struggles due to my career. I developed an eating disorder very early in childhood and stayed at a recovery center in Manhattan for anorexia. I’m a suicide survivor since my first attempt at 15 years old. I’ve endured psychological abuse from those in power.

My goal within the theatrical industry? Impact. I aim to be an artist others can associate with making positive impact, a force of empathy and vulnerability, and a performer known for her heart and soul. I am a mental health advocate for all performers.
April 1, 2025 at 12:25 AM
In addition to BMHF, I also founded The PSYKHE Studio, a platform designed to integrate healing modalities into the artistic process. My vision is to inspire future generations of performers to create with heart, soul, and empathy, while offering artists a space to heal and grow.

I've worked professionally in musical theatre and dance since I was a child and am currently pursuing a graduate degree in counseling psychology to become a licensed therapist for artists.

It’s time for a formal introduction — I’m Emerson Valentina. 🦋

I'm a theatre artist, VO artist, & professional dancer who’s been based in Manhattan for the past 8 years. I'm the founder & director of @mentalhealthbway.org. I have a list of certifications in metaphysical & spiritual modalities.
