We @citizensadvice.bsky.social been campaigning for this for years, because our advisers see the problems private renters are facing throughout England.

So far this year we’ve helped nearly 200 private renters every day with a housing issue.

3 in 10 told us they were already skipping meals to pay bills, and half said just a £20 increase in bills would push them into crisis.

1. Incomes have gone up over the last few years, but this has all been eaten up by rising costs.

People we help with debt are now £13 in the red every month after paying for basics. Pre-covid most people were about breaking even.
