Here are photos of the zine itself. It's a single piece of 8.5" x 11" paper, printed on both sides, cut in half, and stapled twice. If you have the means, why not make one the next time you head out to a protest? The 30 people I gave mine to seemed to be (somewhat) excited to receive them. (3/3)

Not all text is included, due to size constraints. The text reads as follows: Who I am & how the Northbrook protests began I’m a person just like you. I’ve read books and watched or scrolled the news and heard podcasts all about how bad the state of the world is right now. Like you, I got tired of sitting around at home. I wanted to do something besides worry all the time that even the work I was doing at my day job wasn’t making enough of a change. So, I thought I’d check out the Tesla Takedown protests I was hearing about toward the end of February. On the official site, I didn’t see anything happening in Northbrook. There were reports from the Gold Coast that events had happened there, but it was a little far for me and I figured there might be some energy building in the northern suburbs. I texted a few friends about it and said it might be worth seeing what’s happening at the Northbrook Tesla location around noon on Saturday the 8th. Only one friend was able to make it and it was just the two of us there that day. One car slowed down to take a video of us and two people stopped to grab flyers from us, one driving a Tesla. He told us, “I hate this fuckin' thing,” which was surprising and encouraging! I figured it would be a good idea to keep the momentum going by creating an event through the proper channels. If you’re reading this zine, it’s because I pressed it into your hand at the Global Day of Action protest on March 29, 2025. (Or, someone who was there gave it to you, which is great!) Needless to say, the turnout of at least 100 protesters on the 15th and 22nd demonstrates that there is an appetite for this kind of action, even on the North Shore. It’s inspiring how we have fed off of each others’ energy. Why protesting is good for your mental health As I said, the reason I wanted to get out of the house and do something with my mind, my body, and my time is because I was tired of waking up tired. The signs read "I wanna meet his mom just to tell her her son sucks" (with photos of Maye and Elon Musk, "Tesla tax rate 0.4% What is your tax rate? Tax the rich," "Yew, Elon" (with a photo of Alexis Rose from Schitt's Creek), and "Go to MARS for your data." Pages 5-6 of Tesla Takedown Northbrook #1. The text reads as follows: Why protesting matters The mental health benefits to protesting are wonderful, but even more important is that we are signaling to every person driving past that people are in motion. That there are people who are not accepting the horrors we are all facing. With time, and press coverage, our bodies and our voices are evidence that everything is not all right. Even those we might never speak to can see us and feel inspired to start taking the first step in their journey. Why we don’t engage with counterprotestors For the past few weekends, we have not had any counterprotestors appearing in Northbrook. If any do show up today or in the future, we will not engage with their arguments or attempts at discussion. Believe me, I am sure it would feel incredible to sock a Nazi in the kisser, but we are not going to respond to the presence of counterprotestors with violence. If they disrupt our protest, then we will do our best to de-escalate the situation. Giving them a platform to express their views, even if we end up debunking their argument or “winning” the debate, still allows their hatred to flourish. In this case, the argument has one side: humanity over bigotry, every single time. Why using swastikas and Nazi runes is not necessary By the same token, we do not want to use any Nazi imagery, such as swastikas or SS runes (you know, the lightning bolt-looking letter s you have seen before) in our signs or posters. It’s very clear that we are against the ideology behind these symbols. We know no one is going to mistake a Tesla Takedown protestor for an actual Nazi. All the same, seeing these symbols, even when crossed out, or in even when in a clearly mocking fashion, is still harmful. What to do next? Now that you know you can go to a protest, what other concrete, material actions can you take? Here are some suggestions
