Yarrow has long been associated with the occult. Medicine women & witches used this herb for incantations and to ward off the enchantments of elves. This is where some of the folk names come from, devils nettle & devils plaything, due to the stigma associated with witches.

yesterday felt like the first day of winter and it was below 3 degrees. the air was crisp and delicious. snow dusting the highest peaks. i’m enjoying this dark season. i needed a yin, dark, winter cocoon to integrate lessons and experiences from this year. 🌑❄️🏔️

In Ireland, the sacred Elder tree was said to provide wood for wands & pipes that played to call spirits. Some people wore elder flowers at Bealtaine to symbolise their knowledge of the Craft. The edible berries this tree bears indicates Elders Venus ruler: Venus as the Crone
