I'd probably take either of those teams over either of these teams. Lotta great names on those rosters but I miss Dema Kovalenko the most.

Kilmer's real brilliance was being so good at any role that you empathized with the character. Holiday, IceMan - you weren't supposed to like them but you sure as hell connected with them. He even got you in True Romance.

My only argument is with your first four words. The play-in games should be all at-large teams. Let the conference champions dance. It also pushes better teams down the rankings and creates more drama - win-win.
As for the payout, that seems like an easy fix.
