ITV’s story on Liverpool being the most generous city starts with ‘Proof it’s not grim up north.’ Why the need for a dig at Northerners to share good news? It’s tired, lazy, and feeds stereotypes we’ve heard for decades.

Been off Twitter for a few weeks now and I’ve just been back on it for the first time in ages. Why is the trending feed always false information? Top search is “Joe Biden is Dead”. The app of misinformation. Felt so strange to see given I’ve been chilling on Bluesky.

Elon Musk’s wealth is just so unbelievably fathomable and the fact that he “earned” near $200 billion since the election is just 🤯. Wealth like that should not exist.

Certain platform decided to remove my post about how Russian propaganda works from people’s bookmarks. So in case it disappears from the other platform altogether I'm going to post it here.

Read this a couple years ago and it was truly phenomenal!
We’re continuing our weekly book recs with Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Nam-joo! This quietly powerful novel follows the life of an ordinary Korean woman, revealing the subtle, systemic injustices she faces. A gripping, eye-opening read that sparks reflection on gender inequality in modern society.

Has anyone got any good book recs? Either fiction or non-fiction but with a powerful message. Something about society or real world struggles. Diversity is a must!

When we introduced fit for work assessments, we were told nobody who was genuinely disabled would be denied disability benefits because there would be safeguards, and then people died because they were denied disability benefits. You see the problem with assisted dying "safeguards" yet?

Our first Blue Sky book rec!!

I read this a couple of months ago and it truly was enlightening. The economy can be an extremely difficult topic to approach and Yanis explains it perfectly, from how we got here to how capitalism remains at large.
We’re kicking off our weekly book recs with “Talking to My Daughter About the Economy” by @yanisvaroufakis.bsky.social !

In this brief yet bold read, he unpacks capitalism’s story with clarity and heart. From ancient myths to modern markets, it makes complex economic ideas surprisingly accessible.

I wish they still prescribed women a trip to the seaside to calm said “nerves”.
With every passing day I better understand the mothers in Victorian novels who stay in their bedrooms with the curtains closed and complain vaguely about their “nerves.”

I’m looking for people to add on Goodreads who are into similar books to me:

- leftwing non-fiction: social, political, gender studies etc.
- classic literature: dystopian to gothic romance
- high fantasy
- anything thought provoking !!

I need more good recs :)

Cynthia Erivo IS Elphaba. Her portrayal made me understand the role better than any I’ve ever seen. My little heart is happy.

Glass which they could have smashed with one blow, if they had wished to.

This isn’t new news, but I would really like to know why he got off so lightly? Beastiality and paedophilia, but only on the sex offender register for 12 months?

Politicians really do seem to get off lightly don’t they.

Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor those lost to transphobic violence.

Amid rising bigotry, this is a moment for reflection and action.

Let’s stand in solidarity, amplify trans voices, and work toward a future where all can live authentically and without fear.
