Exactly! The goals should be meeting people where they're at, bettering society as a *whole* to make the world more accessible to autistic folks. Not eradicating autism.

My autism is a core and fundamental part of who I am. I would *not* have the life I have without it. The things I love doing, the people I care about. Everything in my life can be tied back to my autism. Implying that my life would be better, in spite of my struggles, without it is insulting

Hi! Autistic adult chiming in! "Severe" autism is not a thing, first off. There are varying levels of *support* needs, but every autistic person is the same amount of autistic. And yes, autistic children can live a hard life. The solution is teaching society to better adapt, not a "cure."
