Best possible response. Something I always say is, "if it starts with java OR ends with script, it's no bueno."

Ironically, JS is where I have most of my experience T_T

Reason 17 on why I asked them to let me cap the friend count and instead offer a separate acquaintance list with no real-time update features (because they're EXPENSIVE perf wise) when I worked there.

Well it's a good thing we're talking about VRChat, a UNITY game written in C#, rather than an ordinary app. I reiterate once again. It's easier for VRC to keep content porting to Frame than to desktop Linux. That's why we won't get Linux unless they pull the same (difficult) Android->iOS shenanigan.

Do I look like AI, moron? And hallucinating what?! The architecture, the CPU architecture, is the same. Android and Frame's SteamOS are both ARM64. They are also both using a Linux kernel. It'll be far easier to port Android/Quest to Frame and keep existing content than from Windows to x86 Linux.
November 13, 2025 at 6:28 AM
Technically yes VRChat, by the same logic, can make a Linux port of the Windows version, being both x86, but they're fundamentally different operating systems, whereas Quest, SteamOS (Frame), and Android are all Linux. And that means more adjustments AND having no content for the ported-to platform.

Android, as far as app developers are concerned, is nothing but an alias for "ARM Linux". The Frame's SteamOS may not be a direct derivation of Android, but it has the same architecture. It takes only a few modifications to port a game from Quest to Steam Frame.
November 13, 2025 at 12:19 AM
Already have that, in the form of the Quest and phone-Android versions. It'll be simple for them to adjust those for distribution on the Steam Frame. They might even have already done it and it could just be waiting for the Frame's release.

Oh, and the main thing breaking VRChat on Linux isn't even VRChat. I tried it on Bazzite and it worked just fine. It's the GPU driver not properly supporting reprojection which causes bad VR rendering problems.
November 12, 2025 at 10:59 PM
All that to say, we'll get a Frame version long before a desktop Linux version.
November 12, 2025 at 10:58 PM
The Steam Frame is far closer to Android (ARM64) than it is desktop Linux (x86-64). It's easier to adjust the Quest version and keep all the Android content than it is to rebuild the Win version and lose all content. Or they could pull the Android->iOS play for Win->Linux. Still very hard to do.

Is there anything new to get or is it all the same rewards?

Hmm gotcha. Wanna play together btw? Been looking for a friendo who's into the optimization part.

What are you using to make this?

For this travesty, you are banned from appearing on my timeline for the next 15 seconds.

What a banger lol, glad to have helped XD

Same. I'd rather switch to Linux before the Win10 extended security period ends.
October 27, 2025 at 10:06 PM
Were both very borked. Room Setup could be run by basically launching Steam inside a virtual downgraded Fedora/mesa version to get through it, and switching back to normal after. But reprojection is so broken you see afterimages of everything if you get below 45fps. Almost there, but not enough. 2/2

1. Despite the immense popularity of stupidity these days, intelligence still outnumbers it rather handily. So if everyone had a perfectly equal say, progress would still be made.
2. Were education properly handled (like if #1 came true), stupidity wouldn't be popular and few would be undeserving.

To me the Genesis was the peak of gaming. The Sonic trilogy (& Knuckles) and Battletoads were my favorites. And its YM2612 could crank out absolute bangers.
