Former Archdeacon of West Ham and Chaplain to West Ham United FC, now happily retired and enjoying Exmoor life
It’s that time again. Every year, the lovely people at ‘Knees Up Mother Brown’, the West Ham website, invite me to pen a Christmas message that will be read by a surprisingly large number of fans around the world. Here’s this year’s message. Happy Christmas, everyone! www.kumb.com/story.php?id...

I see that a free, digital version of 1963’s Traffic in Towns went live yesterday. How marvellous. My thanks to whoever has made this happen @trafficintowns.bsky.social

In this photo I was on a ship from India, my birthplace, to the UK. It was snowing when we arrived. I’d never experienced England, let alone a winter. Home would be in Somerset, where my family had lived before they went to India. 64 years later, I’m back in Somerset and there’s snow on the hills.

After 33 years of largely urban ministry, I am enjoying worshipping in a village church on Exmoor that attracts a bigger percentage of the local population than any church in my old archdeaconry. Here’s my take on why. www.cockett.org
