Some bugs I saw in Thailand

One is a cold blooded invasive predator who‘s hardly afraid of humans and the other one is an Asian Water Monitor
(I love cats but inside or under supervision)

Meliads who want to stand out often use body modifications that show off their insect features or are otherwise not possible for humans.
They can pull back the fat body that makes up their intricately detailed "human skin".

I think the name Meliad ticks a lot of boxes to have an anthropomorphic insect named after them.

They're 'nymphs', bound to trees, have nursed young Zeus with their honey.

My lil guys here feed their very young nymphs with a nutritious liquid from their mouth in addition to an omnivore diet.

So, imagine if roaches were even bigger fans of humans.
In fact, very big fans :)
And, uhm, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

My species is called Meliad, "borrowed" from greek mythology (Read pic alt for more details).

Freshly shed Giant Cave Roach, Blaberus giganteus.

I keep a miniature greenhouse in this terrarium where I stuff all sorts of tiny plants. The beetle is plastic btw.
