In a major win for RV residents, the Board of Supervisors overturned San Francisco’s controversial RV towing ban in a 7-3 vote on Tuesday.

The policy, backed by Mayor London Breed and the SFMTA, would have allowed officials to tow RVs if residents refused shelter offers.

Among the dancers were Leticia Bustos-Mosqueda, 44, and her daughter, Ysaiya Castaños, 17.

“What brought us to Alcatraz was definitely our ancestors,” said Bustos-Mosqueda. The gathering, she says, is a way to honor her roots and stand in solidarity with Indigenous struggles worldwide.

On Wednesday afternoon, hundreds of striking hotel workers marched through downtown in the pouring rain, holding banners and signs reading “Bet on SF” and “One job should be enough.”

The next day, nearly 500 workers voted to authorize strikes at the W and the St. Regis.

Sofia sells cups of freshly cut fruit for $8 each in San Francisco. In a day, she can bring home about $75 in sales. A mother of one daughter, Sofia lost her job at a clothing store during the pandemic and has since turned to selling whatever she can while taking temporary gigs to make a living.
