If they want the strike to be prolonged for more then 2 days, then yes they would need to approve it. Right now it temporarly falls under the banner of a special military operation

As of right now, the strike constitutes a special military operation under federal law, not war. This means that Trump now has 2 days to vote in congress if he wants continuation of the operation into an official war.
