Dad, prof, writer, partner, optimist. Low-key cool and l'eau qui coule. // Papa, prof, écrivain, amoureux, optimiste.
Too true. I scroll through my feed and, outside of the political content, it's hundreds of bright, funny, creative people all in frantic (and/or light-hearted) search of validation from each other.

Please like this comment so I feel a momentary sense of status and accomplishment. :)

Lol. You were both right.

One of those rare cases where the cover version vastly outshone the original.

My friend used to say, "There's only *one* right way to dress, and that's however *you* want to."

Ouch. Too accurate.

They probably mostly just get called "sportswriters" with no gendered prefix that intentionally marginalizes them.

I was joking to my wife yesterday that scheduling a cleaning at the dentist together is a great first date idea. Even better if it's followed up by a protest.

Your posts are consistently some of the most honest, interesting, and thoughtful I come across on here. Sending virtual hugs!

This content could *really* use some context. Or not.

Please write a polka song about recording a new album while starting your period.

Really weird.

OP: "Jesus said love your neighbor."

The comments: "Fvck you and your stupid book written by a bunch of superstitious stone-age goat-herders!"

For sure. It's great that this is happening, but I can't imagine any metric that makes this the "first" when Indigenous artists and developers have already been doing this (and winning awards for it) for decades.

Alicia Elliott calls it "colonial depression." Have a look at her essay "A Mind Spread Out on the Ground."

I mentioned this elsewhere in this thread, but have a look at Alicia Elliott's essay "A Mind Spread Out on the Ground," where she talks about this exactly. She's referred to it as "colonial depression."

Actual quote from the post you're getting all ruffled about: "If you thought the music was bad you were wrong."

The experience of a person who likely knew the members STP personally(or would have at least met them at some point), yeah, and who also said he liked their music.

This account is one of those "I must respectfully disagree" engagement farming bots. I've already reported it elsewhere.
January 20, 2025 at 11:04 AM
Yeah, good catch. There are several here, all commenting on the same posts outside of this one, and all with 20 or so comments in the last hour alone.
January 19, 2025 at 8:52 AM
Yeah, it's weird. If you click on a few of the obvious ones, you'll they're making comments on the same posts, all in the exact same bot voices.

This sounds like it could be a lost verse from Paul Simon's "Late in the Evening."

I think Canada's system is better overall without question, especially for the 90 or so percent of us who aren't rich. Private corporations are doing their best to chip away at that every way they can, though.
January 17, 2025 at 2:49 PM
Unfortunately, dental care in Canada is still mostly tied to private insurance through your employer the way health care is in America. Programs like this one are awesome, but far from universal.

Life pro tip: you don't have to outrun the bear, you just have to outrun your friends.
