Trump has zero leverage with Ukraine. A day ago Trump bragged about his policy of not providing any monetizable military support to Ukraine this year. So how is Ukraine in any way indebted to Trump?

I am of the belief that Trump's decision was in response to S. Miller encouraging him sotto voce to authorize the bombing mission. So why would SM do this? To create the conditions for the declaration of martial law in response to a domestic terrorist attack by an entity sympathetic to Iran.

That may have been the plan, but it needed a triggering event from the US to set it in motion. Had the hostilities been confined to trading missile attacks with Israel, oil tankers would still be sailing through the Straits of Hormuz without fear of attack (from Iran).
