The response to this specifically (“But his family gave permission!”) and the strike in general by self-identified “gamers” and others who worship at the altar of pop culture is not surprising, but it is disappointing. And makes my desire for furthering labor/political education all the stronger.

Today I found a brief article in a 1979 issue of Steelabor lamenting the tendency of certain journalists to swoop into blue-collar areas and declare themselves working-class whisperers. I’ll post a screenshot later. They call it “shot and beer journalism”.
