I reconnected with a couple of friends from childhood, both of whom I had let drift out of my sphere through simple neglect of our friendships. I've also made myself be more proactive in contacting people I haven't heard from in a while. Getting out of my own bubble.

I've been giving this reply also, as a Marylander. The risk of actually LOSING a seat might be too great.

Maryland is gerrymandered now in a way that already benefits Democrats. I don't know their reasons for being against redistricting right now, but there has to be a chance it could backfire and lose a seat or even two, God forbid, to the Republicans. Just saying.
