I went to BYDs ‘tech day’ last night and here they are casually displaying 29 of their cars…a vast difference to 4 years ago for the factory visit.

I don’t think the IM (MG/SAIC) L6 is selling very well in China. I know a dealer who often unloads cars which are not selling well - he had a lot of Polestar 2s for about $16k. Now he has these L6s for about $21k USD. Base model but brand new. Brutal year ahead for these brands.

This is a super rare spot in China! A KIA EV5 - they are having a big push this year so will be interesting to see how they stack up against the competition.

Updates on the Small Sports Car! It’s just been registered with MIIT - basically meaning its production ready and will likely be launched in the next 6 months as it’s passed government approvals. Name now just ‘01’ and not ‘SC01’. Exciting times!

Sooo @xpeng just sent their first batch of G6 EVs to Australia on the boat this week, at the same time the first Chinese Smart EV brand to reach 10,000 sales in Europe.

Yes it’s a big SUV and it’s PHEV (there is a full EV version) but for about £60k GBP it does full off roading stuff as evidenced by the mud and the massive grin on our faces. Proper wading and locking diffs. Watch out Land Rover. It’s called MHERO…

This year has seen me take on long distance EV journeys - close to 2000km per journey in remote areas of China. It’s been so easy to do with manufacturers own networks as well as state run ones. The only issue has been poor parking etiquette but that’s it. What are your experiences?
