Girl, idek. Leftist. Tired. She/Her.
And I won’t even get into the recent “attack” on education and filling it with misinformation. Not to mention, I feel when kids don’t read or watch more…“complex” media, their attention spans get shorter and shorter, they don’t remember or comprehend much.

back to leaving them behind. Not only because they need to learn certain things before passing on, but because many parents don’t take it seriously if their kid is still advancing in school. Why would they?

But I also know our education in America needs help. The whole system needs reworking, tbh.

kids and they say similar things. Too much busy work with no explanations, too concerned with things other than teaching, some kids get no homework (so, no practicing outside of class), yet they’re still passing onto the next grade. I know it might seem harsh, but if a kid is failing, we need to go

of tracks. When my nephews explain to me what their teachers tell them, it doesn’t make sense, sometimes. And I accept that school and what’s being learned isn’t exactly what I grew up learning, but I think some things are just a “fact” and don’t change. I’ve spoken to my friends with school aged

take these habits to higher education. I also hear, because after I stopped wanting to be a teacher I stopped keeping up with it, there’s a teacher shortage and some places don’t even require you to have the same training/education you used to have to have. I have my doubts. Plus, if you show kids how to, basically, get the answer, which is also sometimes incorrect, what do you think they’ll do? They’ll do whatever is easier to get back to their games and social media and friends. My nephews are only in high school, which means the kids doing this will

them how to use AI. Then the principal told me that it’s not just my nephews, but a lot of kids are using the AI “incorrectly”, by not sourcing things, etc. I have an English degree, so I know all about that, and I asked her if they had taught them how to correctly source things. She said yes, but

nephews not doing their work. Or should I say, they did it, but they used “too much AI”. When I asked the teacher about it, because I don’t use AI and don’t encourage it (though I’ve always encouraged them to do their research instead of always just asking me stuff), I was told THE SCHOOL showed

money with how everything is right now.
Thank you, ma’am, because many people wouldn’t have cared, at all, and would have let me buy something I wouldn’t be able to fit as long as they got my money.
