Asked my advisor today if she slept after discussing my paper edits. All she said was “yes I sleep”… not how long, or how often. Taking any and all coffee donations for the days where, yes I do sleep, but the sleep is less than normal, from now till November.

Marriott’s CEO said it straight: “We welcome all… we create opportunities for all… that’s who we are as a company.”

He went back to his hotel to find 40K emails from Marriott associates worldwide saying “thank you.”

Plenty of CEOs talk. Capuano showed up.

Marriott still has my business.

Today's theme: Infectious diseases & STIs.
Trump’s idea of “making America healthy”? Cutting labs that track STD & hepatitis outbreaks.
Our hot take? That’s really, really stupid.

Not a single word to help the 33m small businesses in this country. Not from anyone in the administration.

So many buy from China, and don't have alternatives.

So many didn't have the cash to front run the tariffs and buy inventory

I just finished John Green's book "Everything is Tuberculosis" and I highly recommend it! Reading that book, although it is more informative, inspired my post today! TB is one of the oldest and deadliest infectious diseases, except during the COVID-19 pandemic when more people died of COVID!

Quick reminder that this dedicated scientist, like most, will be getting up and going to the lab - no matter what happens. Well, right after he’s called his senators. Again.

Yes, the stock market may be tanking and our national security apparatus has never been more vulnerable and we're on the verge of both economic collapse and war, but it was all worth it to keep pronouns out of email signatures.

NEW: No fewer than 10 principle scientists at NIH investigating emerging infectious diseases and neural disorders were among those fired by RFK Jr. today.

One is an esteemed scientist awarded for breakthrough research into the causes of Parkinson's disease.

Yes, the HPV vaccine is safe, despite R.F.K. Jr.'s claims. It's remarkably effective at preventing cancer — roughly 97% effective in preventing cervical cancer, and nearly 100% effective in preventing external genital warts.

During his second day of confirmation hearings, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declined to disavow comments he had made disparaging the vaccine as unsafe.
