And it’s a risk that us coeliacs take. Or not. Over 25 years of making those decisions, and I still get nervous but sensible discussions and understanding the ‘vibe’ helps. If I’m in doubt I’ll have green salad, no dressing. And wine……

I imagine the challenge is immense and you have to draw the line somewhere. I am finding increasing numbers of chefs understand coeliac issues though which is providing better quality options.
I used to only be offered cheese salad so love the variety available now.

As a coeliac, I appreciate when a chef devises a gf menu. As a vegetarian coeliac I’m very happy to find gf/vege option on the menu. But I feel sorry for gf meat eaters cos they’re often only given the veg choice. Or steak. (I love dairy and eggs, so am always happy for a gf vege meal).
