If my past experience of living in the US is anything to go by, Christmas often sits alongside the Thanksgiving build up. I remember taking my daughter to see Santa BEFORE Thanksgiving one year.

While I agree with you, I'm wondering how long they can keep falling back on the "14 years of Conservative government" argument as the reason things still haven't improved. So far, feeling pretty unimpressed.
