In my presentations, I often speak about historical erasure and omission. This is how history and those stories and places become lost. This is how history is “othered.” This is how the historical narrative is manipulated and controlled. Continue to make history known and keep it in the light.

One thing about being a historian is seeing the long view of things and often feeling like Cassandra. We can predict what’s coming based upon the past, but who is listening?

I visited the NPS Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail Interpretive Center, located on Alabama State U.’s campus. 2025 will be the 50th anniversary of the historic 54-mile Voting Rights March led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Montgomery, AL is so full of history. Just left and right. Definitely visit its historic civil rights sites and churches such as Dexter Avenue King Memorial and the @legacysites.eji.org Legacy Museum. It was amazing.
