I totally agree. I fully believe in the strategy of starting small and local and building up from there. This is how we get women and, more generally, progressive candidates, into power. School boards, town councils, county execs, all the way on up.

Honestly, I think America would elect a white gay man (especially a veteran from the midwest) before they would elect a woman. The misogyny in our country runs incredibly deep.

As a healthcare professional, I’ve been saying this about vaccines to anyone who will listen. Americans have gone so long without many infectious diseases that we forget what a world without vaccines would look like. Our memories may be getting a refresher soon thanks to our new HHS secretary.
