We changed to a local independent vet and have not regretted it in the least. They're all expensive but £4000 sounds absolutely extortionate! X

She is thankfully. It was so upsetting because I had no idea ovarian remnant syndrome was a thing. We had her speyed asap because even one heat cycle can cause her issues later on. Thankfully I realised what had happened and got her back in. Then changed vets!! Hope your baby is doing ok now too. X

They genuinely admitted that they'd left the tissue behind, and said they'd re-do the surgery. We obviously agreed, and it was only on the day we took her back that they informed us that although the surgery was free, the medications weren't. They'd have let me leave without pain relief for her! 🤬

It's unbelievably expensive! Some vets are better than others but in general the prices are extortionate. One of our cats was neutered, but they left ovarian tissue and she went into heat. They operated again "free", but charged us £150 for her pain meds! Told us we didn't need to take them!

Look at waiting lists in England by comparison to Scotland. When we "see the back of them" we will also see the back of our free prescriptions, and countless other vital supports for people. Be careful what you wish for.
