I think this partly results from being vastly outnumbered & being used as a fetishistic prop for their porn. I don't begrudge them reading or writing mlm stories: I *love* Love Lessons, Vexing Villains, Missing Pieces, etc. But when stories about our lives are "for them" and "not for us"…yk… :(

'cos the overall point of 1984 is not *about* surveillance, but the government dictating truth (2+2=5). The most "Orwellian" thing the government has done in recent times is not CCTV or facial recognition (which are bad), but the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024.

When the ruling was announced, I accepted it as a devastating but nonetheless correct interpretation of the law as written. But after reading this, my faith in the Supreme Court, that it was merely affirming the will of Parliament, has completely shattered. Contact your MPs, we have to fix this!

While I wholeheartedly agree that this plan in inhuman, to say the least, I don't think "legally unenforceable" is much of a roadblock for a gov attempting to implement this plan since they would command a majority in Parliament. That if the law is stopping them then they'd change the law, right?

Side note: it's unnerving to think that, without a bunch of people with the weird hobby of plane spotting, we wouldn't have nearly as much knowledge or footage of these things - and the implications of the things that go unnoticed because those things don't have spotters for them.
