Turns out it was based on the Wizard of Oz, which is apparently about William Jennings Bryan making silver the backing for American currency. I don’t think he was big on singing though.

All the time. He frequently talked about groceries and rent. His solutions are dumb and usually revolved around cruelty to immigrants, but he definitely acknowledged the economic grievances.
